VIDEO**Exceptional Playday/Ranch Gelding
If you are looking for a well broke, competitive playday/rodeo horse that will also ride quietly out in the pasture and on the trails, then take a look at Garlic. He is an excellent all around horse and has done a little bit of everything. Garlic is a sweet 14 year old grey and white paint/quarter horse gelding. His color has faded so he looks white until he gets wet, and then you can see he’s part paint. Garlic came off of a ranch in New Mexico, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting cattle in the pens, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and dragging calves to the fire. He was also the horse that guests would ride when they came to the ranch. Youth riders have ridden him in the arena and out in the pasture with no problems. Garlic is fully patterned and very competitive on the barrels, poles and the flag race. He can run barrels to the right or the left, and will go at any speed you ask him to, from a walk to a gallop. He has excellent turns, knows the patterns, and has no alley issues. He has roped breakaway as well. He enjoys his job and does it very well. He has also carried a flag in drill team and grand entries. He is quiet but has plenty of gas in the tank when you need it. Garlic is nicely built, 14.3 hh, with a pretty head and a soft, kind eye. He loves people and you can catch him anywhere. Garlic is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He neck reins easily, has a nice stop, will open and shut gates, and sidepass. He has the smoothest trot and a slow rocking horse lope that is very easy to sit to. He will step right into a lope from a walk or a trot, is good on both leads, and will do flying lead changes. Garlic doesn’t mind being an only horse, and he rides great both by himself or with other horses. He will happily lead or follow and will leave the group willingly. We have ridden him down the highway around traffic and it doesn’t bother him at all. Garlic rides quiet on a loose rein, and isn’t the kind of horse that needs to be ridden everyday to stay gentle. You can pull him out of the pasture, saddle him up and step right into a lope without worrying about getting bucked off. We have hauled to him several different ranches and state parks, and he rides just as quiet away from home as he does at home.
