used at summer camp, trail ridden, great in arena, price reduced
Xena is a 6 year old mare that I purchased from a summer camp that I work at. When I had her vet checked, the vet estimated her to have some Morgan in her but she is not full Morgan. She came to me as a 4 year old and was riding pretty well then. Because she was young she didn't know a lot of manners but in the past 2 years she has taken leaps and strides to becoming a great horse. Like I said, she was used at our summer camp, so I would trust an intermediate to experienced child on her, and since her camp life, she has been used mainly for trail riding. She is great in the arena and is very responsive. She has gone on all day trail rides. If I had to pick a downfall, I would say that she is a little to high spirited on the trails. She is a great ride, and a lot of fun, but when it comes to trail rides, she needs someone with a little stronger hand. She is definitely a loving horse, who ultimately strives to please you. She is gentle to be around. She both free lunges and lunges on a line to the left and the right. She has been taught to flex and has really learned to give her head and understand what you are asking of her. I just started to take her over some fences and on her first day of jumping she was already doing at least 2 feet with a rider on her (and it was the rider's first time jumping). She shows a lot of potential to be a jumper and with some time she could be a great English horse. She is a really well rounded jumper and does not fling her rider around. She has been a great horse for me and the only reason that I am selling her is that I am a full time college student who doesn't have the time to work consistently. She has never offered a buck, rear, or bite and has an overall great mannerism. Due to not having an immense amount of training at a young age, she does need someone who can work consistently with her. I must say though, that I left her in a pasture from November - April and come April I was able to hop back on her and not have to do much. She really is a great horse, but like I said, she deserves a place where she can be used, and has someone who can really work with her and make her even better. Xena has never had any health issues, and was originally vet checked when I purchased her. She had her vaccines updated on 12/30/10 and received a clean bill of health at that time (have a written review from the vet, if interested). She stands great for the farrier and vet, and although I've never clipped her, I don't see that she would have any problems with it. She stands wonderfully when she is being saddled and mounted and has never had any issues with either of those things. Overall, Xena is a great horse who really needs to go with someone who can love her and work consistently with her. I think she would make a good 4-H project and with some time, an even better kids horse! I am open to vet checks and will do my best to answer any and all questions! Essentially, my loss and your gain! Looking for a GOOD home and someone who will take care of my first baby! Asking 1000 obo. Feel free to contact me for more pictures. :)
