Ages 6 & 8, this pair of mares has worked in all aspects of our operation over the last two seasons. They have worked daily in our 7 acre market garden and 10 acres of hayland spring summer and fall - these are professional workhorses! They have done everything from plowing, harrowing, manure spreading, and bed forming, to cultivating and spraying. They run the sickle bar mower, hay tedders, rakes, and loose hay loader as well as the reaper binder. They are road safe and stand patiently. They both have exceptionally good feet and have not been shod here. Both can work single, the older is excellent at it. Both ride (no formal riding training). They are 16.3 hands, very beautiful - bay with black manes, tails and legs, and are very sensitive. They will not do well for a heavy handed teamster, but should excel for someone with a light touch who is not in a rush. Why are we selling them? Mainly because they are a little light for the heavy demands of our farm. They handle most every task easily, but are at their capacity for the heaviest tasks, so we are looking for a full draft breed to replace them.
