Chewy has a fabulous jump, rhythmic canter, is laid-back, and very amateur/junior friendly. He is built for the taller individual (which unfortunately is not me). Chewy (registered name "Baslow") is a 10 year old warmblood gelding, close to 18 hands. He has masses of ability over fences. I have used him intermittently over the past 3 years for foxhunting, and he has been to some shows (but that's not my thing). Chewy is very quiet in the show ring, and would be a great horse for an Amateur or Junior competitor, as he is very tolerant of mistakes, and helps his rider learn. The bigger the jumps the better he jumps. He is OK foxhunting (but that's not really his thing), but his height is problematic for opening gates and unplanned dismounts! He would probably be perfect for Hunter Derby classes. He can do a 12 foot stride, and has a very steady canter. He may also be suitable for eventing, as he is surefooted and easily covers the ground. He is phenomenal cantering across corn-stubble and pays attention to wash-outs and ditches; and there are no jumps in our country that he doesn't clear easily. He has cleared 4 foot plus with a professional rider - so he has much more scope than I need. Chewy is a homebred. His sire, Budweiser, is a multiregistered warmblood (Oldenburg, KWPN, RPSI, IJF), now standing at stud in Australia. His dam is RPSI registered by a Hanoverian stallion, and out of a Canadian Hunter mare (am-owner & prelim jumper). If you are looking for a scopey, but quiet, handsome, tall horse, then Chewy is your guy.
