I have come to the very hard decision to sell my Haflinger gelding, Hobie. I recently found out I am pregnant and I know he will not get the attention he deserves (and wants). He is very easy to catch in the pasture, he usually walks right up to you but if not you can go right to him and put the halter on. He has gotten along with all other horses I have had him with, he will usually just walk in the pasture and do his own thing. When riding he has never been aggressive or kicked at another horse, either. He is an exceptionally smart little horse. He has a very soft mouth and is starting to work off of my legs. I just ride him in a thick snaffle. He is also starting to spin around on his hind end with a little pressure from the leg. He is broke to drive single but I have never driven him. The people who raised him broke him to drive as a 2yr old and said he took to it like a champ.
Hobie is around 14.1 hands. I am about 5'7" and do not feel too tall for him at all. He is one of the prettier Haflingers I have seen and I'm not being biased because he's mine. He is a dark sorrel color with a blaze face and flaxen mane and tail.
I have ridden him around our farm a lot and have never had any problems with him. I hauled him to a friend's a few times and he went past combines and we had semi's, trucks/trailers and motorcycles go past us with no problems. I would not recommend him to a complete beginner because he is fairly sensitive but an advanced beginner would do fine with him.
I cannot tell you enough good things about him. I have really not found any holes in him... If you would like to know more please give me a call, I'd be happy to chat about him. You will have better luck calling me than emailing. 815-541-3928.
