As a former Curly Breeder(this is one of my babies) I got the question A LOT what can Curlies do. The question should be what can't they do. They are extremely diverse. This guy is a jumper. He loves it, he is very Scopey and willing. He will jump anything. He was schooled over the last year in cross country jumps and stadium jumps. He has done clinics and a horse trial. He is very smart and learns very quickly. He needs some work at dressage before he would do well at eventing. I backed him at 3 1/2 and we did lots of trails. We did lots of flat work. I am not a jumper. So I had him training with a pony clubber. Simi is not for everyone. He has excellent ground manners. He stand for the vet, farrier, dentist. He loads into the trailer without issue. Under saddle he can be a little fast, he has a lot of energy. Not stupid energy, just a lot. He goes and goes and goes. He is very sensitive to his rider. You are confident, he is confident. You freak, he is pretty sure the world is coming to an end because if it is bad enough to freak you it has got to be bad. With that in my mind, if you are fine and confident, you will not have an issue with him. He does not tolerate aggression, he doesn't understand it. If you ask he will do it. If you are an angry person that likes to hit horses with crops, this is not the horse for you. If you are a confident, calm rider, who can look past his curls and see the tremendous potential a willing, able and smart horse can do for you. He will be a lot of fun for you. For those of you that may not know about Curlies, they are hypo-allergic, meaning you won't be allergic to this guy, been tested with other allergic persons. So they get a thick winter coat of curls only to shed it in the spring and become slick, maybe with a wave. Their manes are a little wavy and double. Honestly in the summer, nobody is guess what he is. He has sabino markings. He has typical hard good feet of the Curly. He has never had shoes, never needed them. He has never been lame. He is a bit of an escape artist. He will undo latches and let himself out. Electric is good with him. He will also roll under fences or jump over them. I am willing to lease him to the right person.
