Super smart and willing mare
This girl is one of a kind!
She is a sweet 18 year old mare. She is a dark Gurrilo girl but just amazing. She is about 14 hands, but nicely built to be able to carry a medium framed adult all day. She is a willing girl that gladly does what she is asked. She is very friendly and gladly comes up for attention. We never have any issues catching this girl and she often will follow you around if your in the pasture. She is good with other horses and doesnt seem to be herd bound at all. She is willing to ride with a group or on her own. She doesnt seem to mind either way. She is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. And LOVES treats.
She would be great for an beginner or anyone with some horse experience. She is the kind of girl that can be left out in the pasture all winter, and come spring she is happy and willing to saddle up and go for a ride. She was left un-ridden for 3 years before we got her, and second day we had her we saddled her up and went for a ride. You would have never known that she had not been ridden in a while. She has great ground manners and is easy to lunge, she backs up, and doesnt push. She is respectful of space. We currently are using her as a lesson horse for kids ages 7-14 and she does awesome. Sweet and mellow and very respectful of her rider. Never a buck or crow hop. She is laid back and does what she is asked.
She clips, ties, bathes, and trailers with no problem. She is great to groom and will give her feet to the Ferrier. She does great with people of all ages, and has been around cows, sheep, goats, and dogs. Never flinched or showed any issues. Nothing seems to spook this girl. We have ridden her over hills, logs, around barrels and through tarps. She didnt even notice. She stands nicely for the saddle and will let you bounce around when getting on. She doesnt take off as soon as you are in the saddle and will wait for cue. She can be ridden with a bit, hackamore, or just with her bridle. She neck reins, and works off leg pressure. Her only bad habit is she is a bit leery of being cinched. So we just keep her tied up while we put the cinch on and she behaves nicely. She has likely been hurt or over cinched at some point.
She was being used as a trail horse for a horse camp before we got her. Between us and them she has put on THOUSANDS of miles on trails, arenas, ect. She has seen about everything and nothing seems to bother her. She is super sweet and would make a great horse for someone who wants a horse that isnt going to take a lot of work to keep up to par. She is an easy keeper and has just had her teeth floated. She is up to date on vaccines, dewormed, and is sound. She would do great as a kids horse, or an adult that is looking to get into horses and wants something they can trust to be sane. She is a great girl and we adore her.
We have had her about 6 months. We are only getting rid of her because everyone here has been ridding all summer and we know she has more people to teach to ride and enjoy horses. She is the kind of girl you can take out and ENJOY the ride. You dont have to be worrying about what your horses is doing all the time. She is a great mare!
