SUPER GENTLE PAINT GELDING
Trail riding, arena work, pleasure riding, speed events... you name it, he does it! Chrome is a 14 year old sorrel and white paint gelding that stands at 15 hands tall and weighs 1100 lbs. Chrome has used him as a pleasure and arena horse, going out on urban and desert trails rides by themselves, or with other horses. He is a wonderful trail horse that is not spooky! NO jigging, barn sourness, or buddy sourness. An excellent level headed, calm, quiet trail horse.
Chrome rides easily in just a snaffle bit. You can lope circles on him, bounce a horse soccer ball off of him, carry a flag, and ride him bareback. Not a mean bone in his body, he has never kicked, bitten, bucked, etc. He has no vices of any kind I have ridden Chrome at night and during the daytime - rides the same every time. Chrome does not freshen up. I can let him sit for a couple months, then go out on a walk around the neighborhood, or load him up in the trailer and haul him out to Horse Shoe Park without any lunging or running around beforehand. He loads and hauls great. He walks right into the trailer by himself, loads next to any horse, backs out or steps out of the trailer.
Chrome rides bareback, Char can swing up from the ground to get on him bareback and he doesn't budge. He is used to my arena sprinklers and riding around other horses. He is mainly kept stalled, but he is good with other horses if you would like to turn him out. Chrome is not a mean or dominate horse and gets along with other horses well. His ground manners are great, bathes really well, clips great, ties solid and ground ties, stands still to tack up, not cinchy, just all around good to handle.
Chrome is awesome in new environments, doesn't spook at new objects, and goes right into new arenas and barns like he's been there his whole life. Just for fun, Char has taken him over some little jumps and poles on the ground and he just trots or walks right over them. He is fine around trucks, bicycles, chickens, kids, dogs, even a giant tortoise. He has a rocking chair lope and can give you a nice easy jog or a more energetic trot. He can lope small circles with ease, and he is progressively getting better about side passing, sliding to a stop and doing rollbacks. Since Chrome is pretty easy to cue up to a faster speed, he may a little too responsive for a beginner level rider. He does not have any bad habits and is gentle for anyone, but will move forward when you ask him to. Chrome may be best suited for a confident beginner (or better) level rider. Chrome has been ridden here at the house by a complete beginner rider, he was patient while mounting and walked around the arena with his head low and speed slow. He turned, stopped, backed up, for this rider's first time ever, which built his confidence up significantly! Chrome is a no-nonsense and as honest of a horse as they come.
We have been hauling Chrome to different arenas to ride. I have hauled him out to Horse Shoe Park and P&M Arena. Chrome has about 10 days on the barrel pattern with him doing slow work. He is showing a lot of talent for barrel racing and has steadily been improving in pole bending too. Chrome would make a fun 4-h or family gymkhana horse. No matter where we go, Chrome gets showered with compliments on how beautiful he is!
Chrome has some prior cattle and roping experience. He has not been roped off of for a few years, but you can swing a rope off of him and he isn't scared of cows or donkeys. He is currently barefoot and is barefoot sound. He is excellent for the farrier. This is just a nice, gentle all around family type horse with no vices or issues of any kind. Chrome is clean legged, healthy and sound.
