Smooth Show Peruvian
MCD Zaragoza is an exceptional well gaited Peruvian, with a good string of gaits from a slow paso llano to a nice extended sobreandando, she also has good reach. She is the granddaughter of RDS Me Llamo Peru and MCD Casanova, she is out of MCD Valencia and by WW Racho. Zaragoza is registered with NAPHA # 21604
Zaragoza has been to the Camino/ SW Peruvian show twice (2010 and 2012), and placed 1st and 2nd in Mares Open Gait (2012 & 2012), 3rd in Mares Open Breeding (2010), 3rd in Mares Open Performance (2010), and 1st in the upper level Peruvian Dressage (2012). She never placed lower than third, and the classes were big enough that she has always beat out other horses. She has also been shown in a 4H show, taking 2nd in the open gaited class, and 1st in equitation. Zaragoza also has competed in one competitive trail ride, Open division, where she placed 6th, and she has been trail ridden at a handful of different places multiple times. She also has been used in drill practices and has been to one drill competition astride, where the team placed first and second.
She needs a confident rider, I do enjoy riding her but you cannot be intimidated. She would be a great horse for someone wanting a competitive show horse. She is also a people kicker, not consistent and not malicious rather more fear driven, but it is something I don't test having been kicked by her three times. I have never had her hinds trimmed, and do not let anyone around her hind legs. Luckily she has great feet and has only even needed her fronts trimmed twice now in the years that I have had her (I bought her in Feb 2009). She was worked with for a couple months, by a trainer I used to work under, and he got to the point where he was picking up her hind feet, and standing behind her, this was probably about a year ago, but I have not tried handling her hinds since then. I do watch her body language, and have occasionally walked behind her when she is calmer (but for the most part I just give her her comfortable space, and walk a few feet away when walking behind her), and I can get the crupper and retrancas on her. She has always been good for the vet, as far as standing still for shots, and getting her teeth floated, she is also current on all her shots. The reason I am putting her up for sale, is because I am starting to focus more on my baroque breeds of horses, and need to thin my herd. She would be great for a show home or as a broodmare, she could also go for a trail horse. She has had one nice colt for me that will be a year old in March, who is also for sale.
