Shallowbrook Equestrian Center in Somers, Connecticut is a vibrant equine facility within 26 miles of downtown, Hartford and 25 miles from the University of Connecticut at Storrs.
The Center is home to a 40 year old family business founded by Polo Icon Hal Vita Jr. Mr. Vita was the founder of the first intercollegiate polo teams at the University of Connecticut and his Shallowbrook Farm was the site of the National Intercollegiate Polo Championships for years where his teams won the Championship. Shallowbrook Farm continued to grow under Vitas leadership for over 30 years to include what is today, a thriving multi- dimensional equine business.
Currently Shallowbrook Equestrian Center is managed by Sally Allison, one of the most experienced and well respected horsewomen in the equine industry. Sally and her staff have built a reputation for bringing the best riding theory and discipline into everyday practice for all ages. The Center is sited on 22 open acres and consists of two large indoor arenas with bleachers and viewing areas, two outdoor fenced sand rings, turn-out and 70 plus stalls.
Under the current leadership, Shallowbrook runs a full lesson program, a polo program and has many boarders. They host several one day CHJA, NEHC, CHSA rated shows and a USEF A rated multi day show in June.
