Finnegan is a cute Iseland bred Chincoteague Pony gelding. Like Misty of Chincoteague, Finn swam the channel and was sold at the Fire Department Auction. He is a sturdy pony, liver chestnut in color with a few snowflakes of white. Finn was backed as a 6 year old, so he is somewhat greener then some his age, but he is broken to walk, trot, and canter and is started over fences up to 2'6". He is working on his flying lead changes. He moves laterally off your leg and will rein back willingly. He has attended 2 hunter paces and jumped around both courses nicely. He has also done some mountain trail riding. Finn has not shown any tendancy to buck or rear or any other vices. He has a quiet nature about him and has never shown any tendancy to want to go any faster then the canter. He is ready to go when you get on him and then requires leg after about ten minutes. He is not a complicated mount, but due to his lack of milage (hasn't gone to many places off the farm), I would say he needs a confident intermediate rider or better. Finn has all the makings of a child proof-beginner-type pony with just a bit more exposure to the outside world and possibly some showing. Finn has a great personality. He comes up to you for affection. He also will remember and avoid you if you are heavy handed with him as he is sensitive about such things. He would make a great project pony for a Pony Club rider or for someone doing local level hunt seat. He is an all-around type pony who needs a great, loving home! He is registered with The National Chincoteague Pony Association. (I rate his temperment as a 3-4 just because he will currently still look at strange things. He potentially is a 2 or 3 with more experience.) Reasonable offers considered.
