Rare Schleese Dressage Saddle, Tom Dvorak
Tree: MW, about 30cm
Condition: Used, Very Good
Used Tom Dvorak model Schleese Dressage Saddle, manufactured in 1997. One owner. This saddle has an average MW tree but with a wider, more "U" shaped head which would fit a rounder/broad backed horse. The width was narrowed to Medium-wide in 2003 and knee rolls were added. It was reflocked in 2008 by JRD. The flocking is in good condition.
There is a superficial scratch on the cantle of this saddle (photos available); however, overall the condition is very good and the saddle has been well taken care of.
Information recently obtained from Schleese regarding this saddle:
It is a Tom Dvorak saddle made in March of 1997 with a seat size of 18" on a #4 length tree.
The Tom Dvorak saddle was made in conjunction with the specifications of Tom who is a Canadian Grand Prix rider. The "TD" has a classical center balance seat of med-deep depth with a relatively straight flap.
The thigh rolls are stitched in but could be converted at a cost to accommodate thigh rolls attached by Velcro to allow you to choose alternative sizes. It is in very good condition and likely due to the fact that the flap is primarily German leather, with a soft French-style leather knee pad and shrink leather for the seat. The leather back in those days is actually quite often superior to the leather many saddleries are using these days.
The saddle is also built on an adjustable tree and therefore can be adjusted to meet the needs of most horses.
