If you're looking for a truly exceptional Missouri Foxtrotter mare for a small rider or a child, look this one over.
Misty is a 10 year old palomino, a daughter of Southern Sunrise, and a half sister to Absolut Sunrise who was a national finalist in the America's Favorite Trail Horse competition on TV. She is very gentle, loves people and attention and is a fantastic mare both under saddle and in harness.
She is traffic broke and will ride alone or with other horses. My 9 year old stepson has been riding her bareback, alone, all over the farm. He has also taken her trail blazing and used her as the older/seasoned horse for me to follow with a green youngster.
She is supposed to be trained to drive single, double, and in a 4 horse hitch, I don't have the equipment to verify the last two but I did buy a simple cart & harness and can attest that she certainly drives well solo.
She is very naturally gaited, she came to me pacing because previous owner had no knowlege of gaited horses, he used her more for a buggy horse than for a saddle horse, but with only 30 days with a MFT trainer she is foxtrotting beautifully and consistantly with a moderate amount of headshake.
She is healthy, sound, no vices. Stands tied quietly & patiently, has good hard feet, easy to shoe, trim, load, bathe, groom etc. She also gets along well with other horses.
I would not recommend her for a super young bare beginner simply because she is too well trained~ responsive to rein and legs. However, if you are looking for a confidence builder mount, and have ridden enough to have reasonable control of what your hands and legs are doing, or if you are a seasoned rider who simply doesn't want to deal with the headaches of a goofy horse, I think you will be extremely happy with her. She has been ridden bareback all over the farm by a 9 year old who knew how to ride a bit.
She has had one foal, which was a beautiful buckskin. She is currently open, but price does include a free breeding to my multi titled world champion, homozygous black black stallion if you would like to breed her down the road.
Many videos available of her being ridden & driven.Ask a question about this horse
