A canoe trip on the "pond" is an unbelievable experience, like going back thousands of years in time, and osprey sightings are common. Ocheessee Pond was a champion Bass fishing lake in the last century, before Lake Seminole was created by the damming of the Chattahoochee River nearby. The grounds the farm is situated on were part of a fishing camp in the 1930's and 40's. Today, most of the uplands around the lake are privately owned and the only public access is via a boat ramp at the southern tip, several miles away. Hundreds of years ago, this area was occupied by the Ocheessee Indians, so named by other Indians in the vicinity because they were "those of another tongue," or "Ocheessee." Arrowheads and other tools and knives from that era still surface from time to time, and other artifacts of the fish camp days will occasionally emerge from the ground after a hard rain.
This is a beautiful, peaceful and comfortable farm in an area that features mild winters for year-round training. Owners are downsizing for retirement. Call today for more information and an appointment to view this unique property. 850 272-4502.
