Recently, Skeeter and I were riding home with my boyfriend and his pony after a trail ride. Everything had gone great and we were only a mile from home when our neighbor's dog got loose and charged us. She attacked Skeeter (no one else no matter what, just him). No matter what he did to stop her, she kept getting up, and he wouldn't get out of the way between her and I. It broke my heart to see him so loyal and paying for it. Eventually I got him to finish running home, though the dog had chased us a long way (a dozen people passed us but didn't stop or slow down). But it was too late. He needed 100 stitches to fix what was left, but we can see muscle and tendons anyway. He is under supervision and constant care, but still very bright eyed and energetic. We are hoping he makes a full recovery.
