Horses rescued from Colleton County I- 95 wreck
Officials were able to rescue five of six horses trapped in a trailer in a wreck on Interstate 95 in Colleton County.
County fire and rescue director Barry McRoy says crews working in a downpour Wednesday night were able to get five of the six horses out of the overturned trailer. The sixth horse's injuries were so severe that it had to be euthanized.
McRoy says one of the two men in the trailer was taken to Colleton Medical Center for treatment.
The wreck happened about 7:30 p.m. about 10 miles south of Walterboro near Yemassee.
The horses were treated at scene by staff members from the Edisto Equine Clinic on Edisto Island and a Walterboro veterinarian. The surviving horses were then taken to the clinic.
