Horse Farm in Midland Michigan
Country living cannot get any more convenient. This 11-acre horse farm is just a mile and a half from Meijers and the mall, and half a mile from the Midland City Forest. Your kids will go to Midlands best schools, plus you can hunt deer in your back yard, walk or bike wooded trails, enjoy a majestic grove of hundred-year-old oaks, pick your veggies from a big fertile garden, and watch your horses graze on a three-acre pasture. The 30' x 48' hip-roofed horse barn has five stalls with rubber mats over crushed limestone, as well as heated automatic waterers, a wash stall, a feed room, and an office area. The exterior walls are insulated to prevent condensation, and paneled with solid oak. The loft holds 700 bales -- more than a year's supply of hay for five horses. The outdoor sand riding ring has a small observation deck with benches. Imagine yourself eating breakfast with a view of the barn as it lights up in the morning sun and its reflection appears on the pond where wood ducks, geese, and green and blue herons are regulars. The pond-side stone barbeque will accommodate chicken for 50, should you be inclined to celebrate your good fortune.
On the other side of the house there is a matching building, a hip-roofed 24' x 36' insulated workshop, with a masonry chimney and woodstove. The shop has under-floor ductwork for a sawdust vacuum system and a large wood-storage rack. The shop loft has lots of storage shelves as well as open space for skis, kayaks, and everything you should have thrown away but didn't. The home is an easy-living raised ranch with first floor master suite and laundry, and central vacuum. There are wooded views from every room and a regular parade of wildlife and succession of wild flowers. Recently added: new roof, exterior brick, garage doors, high efficiency gas furnace and central air. The bike/walking trail crosses Newell Creek at the back (west end) of the property and connects to Pine Oak Court, from which you can easily access the 13.4 miles of Midland City Forest bike trails. There could not be a better place to live a healthy active life and raise great kids!
