Apache is a very special horse. A flashy, red tobiano hackney cross with great markings, he's a real eye catcher. At a little over 13 hands at 7 years old, he carries my 150 lbs plus saddle with ease and you'll have to work to wear him out. I never could. Hooves that never need shoes, he goes on rocks with no problem. I've been riding him close to 4 yrs (he's about 7) now so he has had a lot of trail time. But I'm having to sell him due to my age and my poor health. I've had to accept that my mounts need to be as old and slow as I have become and that's not Apache. He's a great mover. Wonderful smooth gaits, always picks up the correct lead, sit down stop, very responsive. Open gates from him or cross creeks on a tricky trail, he's up for it. Handles ordinary traffic great and barking dogs or lawn mowers. The hazards of a suburban ride. But I can't sell him as a settled riding horse because if you have a noisy UPS truck barreling down on you he probably will startle. He still needs work with high stimulus environments and strange horses. He needs lots of wet saddle blankets and a confident experienced rider.
Using clicker training, I've taught him quite a few tricks. He is scary smart. Took him about 5 minutes to learn to pick up a ball and give it to me. I'll teach his new owner all they need to know to continue teaching him tricks, it's really easy and fun. And he loves it! He wants to please and be the center of attention.
Since I don't have a lot of extra energy, I am going to want to know a lot about prospective buyers before I have them out to see him in action. So be prepared to let me know your level of experience and intentions for him. $1500 cash only, to a good home only and negotiable to the right person. UTD on shots, new coggins in the works, and stands for vet and farrier and loads.
