Great Fjord Stallion, AI certified
Didrik is a 7 year old NFHR-registered stallion, experienced with field breeding and AI collections (NFHR-certified), and professionally trained for riding (I've ridden him bareback with a halter). He is easily handled on the ground without a chain or crop. He carries the rare red dun allele and has a Njal mark on both cheeks, and thus can produce red dun and Njal marked Fjords. Didrik has no white star or other white marks and no offspring with white marks. He has forehead lacing, which is very rare in Fjords, and he's passed it on to 2 of his offspring. Didrik has sired 7 offspring (I only have a small herd of mares), consistently settling them in the first breeding (very fertile-high sperm count and motility). I keep him with the herd of mares and babies or in a bachelor herd of other stallions and he gets along with every horse I've had around. His structure and movement are beautiful and he has a med-drafty musculature with excellent heavy bone.
Didrik has never been sick, is naturally parasite-resistant, has excellent hoof structure and no soundness issues. He is an easy-keeper that thrives on a mineral/salt block and either pasture or hay. No additional or special supplements are needed. He doesn't have metabolic issues, and thus has never gotten too fat on full pasture/hay 24-7 in the 6 years that I've owned him.
Didrik also lives with sheep, goats, chickens, pigs and cattle at various times of the year, thus he has no issue with horned goats running between his legs and scraping his belly with their horns, nor issue with chickens flying up or down from roost, nor issue with pigs flopping down to lay against his legs as he eats. He doesn't chase the cattle as some horses do. No kicking, biting, bucking, rearing or stupid stuff out of him.
Didrik is easily contained by a single strand of electric fence at 35" or electronet fencing, which we use to rotationally graze our mixed-species groups of livestock. Even with mares in paddocks within sight of Didrik, he respects the electric fencing.
He would be superb as a gelding also.
I am returning to school and need to reduce my home chores, thus Didrik is for sale. Make me an offer.
