Meg is a mix of Arabian and quarter horse. Very pretty and well built. She is 9 years old, sorrel, mare. Perfectly healthy. Field boarded for the last 3 years. Bare foot. VERY smooth trot and canter. She got spooked a couple of times and bucked, but you can barely feel her bucking. We got her for our daughter a couple of months ago from a girl who was rarely riding her, so she was "out of work" for a while, so she was pretty rushed when we just got her. We were riding her almost every day since then and she is pretty much nicely paced now. Meg is an AMAZINGLY fast learner. I would say that her progress is 10 times of expected. Every time I ride her, she surprises me by how much better she performs.
Meg has Arabian temper and quarter horse strength and endurance. She has a lot of energy so she can run for hours. You will never get bored riding her. At the same time, she is very sensitive and obedient. Meg lives in the field with four other houses who are larger than her, so she has to "stand her grounds", and she sure does, so she is very alert and even nippy at times; I believe it also comes from her not being ridden for a long time. She used to get nervous and pinch her ears back at the beginning when two people (me and my daughter) were working around her. She is much calmer now, especially when it's only me near her. She DOESN'T have an evil temper, she is actually a sweet heart, just needed a bit of time to get used to people riding her again.
I LOVE this horse and am very sad to have to say her goodbye. Meg is smart, brave and fun. Meg is my daughter's first horse and, unfortunately, they never really fell in love with each other (I did :)). My daughter is a good rider and very sensible and considerate for her 13 years of age. I have to admit that I probably kind of pushed her into buying Meg because I liked her from the first time I saw her, but she is not the right horse for my daughter. I understand.
I would really want to keep Meg, but we can't afford to board two horses, so she has to go.
Meg would be an excellent western or event horse. We are currently doing flat work on her now, but people, who were showing her to us, were saying that she jumped 2'6 at shows (her show name is Uptown Girl) and free jumps 4ft. We don't have any other info about her show work. We saw her jump cross rails, and it looked smooth and skilled.
Meg is for intermediate to advanced rider.
She is $1300 OBO. We are letting her go to a good home only.
