Gentle Fjord colt, coming 2 yo
1dr Sjogren has exactly the traits I select for in my breeding program. Number one, he has the ideal Fjord temperament; naturally calm and accepting of new things, inquisitive, eager to please, quick to learn, middle of the pecking order and quick to greet any visitor. On top of that, he has a gorgeous head, good body structure, nice feet and legs, and good movement. His mom is 13.3hh, and dad is 14.2hh, so I anticipate that he will mature in between. His bone structure is medium, as is his muscling. He has been haltered and played with since birth, and he lives with rams, bucks and guard dogs underfoot at all times, and chickens flying to/from roost, so he is not spooky and doesn't kick at small creatures. We feed round bales and deliver them with a skid steer so he is not afraid of loud machinery. He has never had a health problem and is properly socialized with horses (no solitary confinement in stalls) and thus has no vices. His diet consists of hay in the winter and full 24-7 pasture during the summer with mineral/salt block supplement. He needs no grain nor special foods and doesn't founder or have metabolic problems (none of our Fjords do), so he will be a low-maintenance horse in terms of feed and vet expenses.
He will make an excellent breeding stallion to pass on the excellent temperament of both of his parents, or an ideal all-around family horse as a gelding.
I am selling him for $1000 now, or for $1500 in the spring after I've spent some time on his back and in long lines. His temperament is such that training him will be very easy and he will be a reliable mount with very little effort.
I'm selling a bunch of my Fjords to pay for graduate school, otherwise I would be keeping Sjogren for breeding. I will pay for and submit registration transfer paperwork to NFHR for his new owner, and can deliver him for $0.40 per mile round trip. The buyer will be responsible for the cost of a vet check, coggins or anything that I cannot do (I trim my horses hooves and give all vaccines).
