Dressage or Sport Horse Prospect Gelding
2007 Thoroughbred Gelding by Maker's Mark. 16.2 hands, chestnut with blaze and 2 hind tall socks.
"Mark" is a sweet boy who has a heart of gold. He tries every step of the way and loves to be pampered. Trained for the track, but he just didn't show the desire to get out in front, he was more of a follower, so he never ran a race. In fact, he was so quiet, that he was even used briefly as a pony horse on the track! After some time in the pasture, he has now started his new career. He never had any bad "track experiences", so he is very easy to handle and has great ground manners.
Under saddle this horse is responsive but not overly sensitive to the aids. He has an amazing work ethic. He has shown tremendous improvement and we are thrilled with his learning abilities. He has a wonderful walk and canter, is balanced both directions, and has a good understanding of how to soften and lift his back, reach forward to the bit, and move laterally off the leg. He shows a promising career in lower level Dressage, Western Dressage, or as a pleasure or hunter-under-saddle horse.
Mark has been sound his whole life, including at the time of his retirement from race training. He is slightly over at the knee, so a heavy jumping career might be a little tough on him, but he has been hopped over cross-rails and seems to be willing. His feet are great with strong, thick hoof walls.
