Looking for loving, kind, caring home for sweet, middle-aged, gelding, with special needs. He should be fed only grass hay, NO alfalfa, and NO grain. This horse needs therapeutic shoeing, (dental impression material, pads and shoes) on the front feet only, to be walk-trot sound. He can carry comfortably about 150 lbs., rider and saddle, so women or kids would be best. He is a National Show Horse, which means he is a Saddlebred/Arabian cross. For people who know horses that means he is forward moving, high-stepping, and likes to move with energy. He does not lope due to his soundness issues, so he is going no faster than a walk or trot, but that doesn't mean he has no energy and would not be scary for beginner riders. He has given lessons to beginners in the round pen with supervision, and intermediate in the arena, but a good rider can ride him in nothing but an indian bridle and bareback down a neighborhood street with traffic and all the other obstacles and be perfectly safe. He is a good candidate to be retrained to buggy, as he is very intelligent and not spooky for his breeding. He will take his cues from his rider, so if you are nervous he will be too. But if you are confident, he will go anywhere. I just got him back after about five years with his adopted family, who could no longer care for him. He had not been ridden on a regular basis, and not at all for at least six months, and I took him out bareback, down the street, through the neighborhood, and into the desert where we walked over an old mattress, between trash piles, and by the four-wheelers. This is a very special horse. He's not perfect, no horse is, but he could be someone's new best friend. Keep in mind that any prospective new home will be upon approval only. 292-7872
