Patsy Blue Miss
Phenomenal 7 year old Bay dun AQHA Quarter Horse Mare.
Hickory is an outstanding trail horse. She's solid on any trail and she's pretty gorgeous too. Even thought she is a mare she has no mare tendencies. She is not moody and does not kick or bite. She has been there done that. She has been to state parks for day rides and camping. She has been on extended week long trail riding trips to the Barons or Governor Knowles State forest.

You can take her out alone, or within groups. She has rode out by herself and within groups of 15-20+ horses. She has been ridden by friends as an extra horse too. Very accommodating and easy. This horse can sit in the pasture for extended periods of time and be able to throw the saddle on and go with no fussing of issues or lunging. She will stand tied to a picket line, trailer, tie stall, or wherever you put her. She is not buddy or barn sour. She rides out on the trail alert and ears forward, she is cautious of un-even terrain (i.e. sure footed and will take care of you), she will ride through deep mud, rivers, rushing water, goes over large logs, you can open and close gates off her back. She stands for the Ferrier/vet, loads, and bathes. Along with all of her trail riding experience she also knows the barrel pattern. She has competed in several barrel racing jackpots, not winning much but will run clean. She has worked cattle and done several team penning events. She LOVES cattle. (cattle penning 10 or so times, barrel racing 10 or so times)
She's very pretty with big kind eyes, great conformation, wide and sturdy. She's good with other horses (exceptionally good and fair herd manager) and is an easy keeper (grass hay and just grain snacks occasionally). NEVER foundered. She has prevalent zebra stripes on her legs and a distinct dorsal stripe. She really stands out in a crowd and wows everyone with her pleasant demeanor, she loves beer... in fact she will show off and steal your can and have a sip. This horse has a jet black beautiful mane and VERY full tail that is just stunning. She does not have an ounce of white on her. Shoes? never had them on this horse. Hard hooves that my farrier just loves... no chance of navicular on this one... Height? 14.2 HH. That's me in the picture, I'm 5'9" just for a reference.
She's got a wonderful little jog and an even better extended trot, smooth and collected canter. She is very well broke in terms of skill I.e. side pass, back, turn on fore and rear, soft in the face and capable of higher level dressage techniques. I've ridden her in some game classes with WSCA. Could be well suited for a younger girl willing to ride this horse to her full potential on the rail or barrels. She will make an excellent and lifelong partner. Bits? just a jointed o ring snaffle... even riding the barrels.
Another question has come up... does she buck, the answer should be no, because she is one of the easiest horses I've ever personally started... and I have her priced at a point that a horse at this level shouldn't buck or do anything green, however I have never seen 'you' ride. Considering that a rider could do anything to cause a horse to buck... I cannot guarantee anything... but as a seller I am confident this is a sound of mind and zero buck horse... Can you do anything to set her off? I've had the other horses in the group GALLOP off, most horses would loose there mind, Hickory may spin in a circle a few times and walk on. Pretty level headed. Spook? maybe a small jump. pretty tolerant and not over reactive. Do you have to kick her to keep her going? No. not a lazy soul either.
Her bloodlines are exactly what any owner could hope for in a perfect all around prospect with performance potential. I picked her out on the North Dakota range for her correct conformation, stunning color and knockout breeding. She has surpassed all willingness in a sound mount. She is out of a Dunalino Stallion named Playboys Up and Dun it who is a son of Hollywood Dun it and Playboy Pepper- A Freckles Playboy mare. Playboys Up and Dun It is a NRHA money-earner NRHA Pewter winner AQHA performance point-earner ROM in Reining ROM in Team Roping. A very nice performer out of the infamous Hollywood Dun It. Hickory's dam is equally as awesome. She is by Driftwood Hank (Driftwood is known for explosively fast arena horses) he is a producer of AQHA SUPERIOR performance point earners. There are other TOP foundation AQHA sires and dams on her side of her pedigree. She could be registered in the Foundation Quarter Horse Association as 95++%.. that is extraordinarily high since their requirement is only to have 85% foundation QH in their pedigree.
If you are looking for a solid and sound trail horse with unlimited performance potential, she is the whole package. I am only selling due to lack of time i.e. full time job/part time job/small children. I do not have the time to ride like I once did. A good home is a MUST. I will be doing a refresher with her and may be hauling her out more to Barrel Jackpots. Once she has proven herself, I hold the right to change her price. More current videos available for serious buyers. Photos show her over the past few seasons, plus the roan pictured is her dam with foal (buckskin full sib), the dun foal is this mare as a 2 month old.
Please call me if you are a serious buyer, she is a quality horse and will not disappoint. Please do not waste our valuable time if you do not intend to buy this mare at her full advertised value. Asking $5800. However if you are a youth or 4-her I would be interested in homing her to you and would consider an offer.
Video of this mare with less then 30 rides- just to show you her quality of movement and how quiet she was during this flag stunt as a 2 yr old.
