Beautiful grandson of the cutting legend Peptoboonsmal. Originally trained for cutting then used on a large ranch gathering and working cattle. Since 2008, Roanie has been successfully competing in team penning and ranch sorting at United States Team Penning Association (USTPA) and RSNC events. Roanie and I learned to pen and sort together and he has carried me to several first place and top 10 finishes. To name a few, we won the #13 sort buckle at the Austin Livestock Show & Rodeo last year, won the open sort there the year before and had several good placings this year at large USTPA shows, including top 10 at the San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo and winning the #3 pen class at another large show. Roanie has also been ridden extensively by my 10 and 13 year old daughters in penning/sorting competitions, local playdays and on the trails. In November 2011, my 10 year old daughter (who had sorted on Roanie only once) won the USTPA Junior Youth Sort Reserve World Championship on Roanie. No need to ride him everyday. You can leave him in the pasture for month, then hop on and go penning, sorting, move cattle or to a playday. This is a beautiful, solid, typey gelding that is sound, an easy keeper, ties, loads, trailers, stands for the farrier and can do a little bit of everything.
