Montrose is a beautiful Marsh Tacky gelding. Reg. # 222. He was purchased from Mr. D. P. Lowther, who had the foundation herd when the Marsh Tacky horses were registered. Montrose is very typey for a Marsh Tacky and is a real South Carolina Heritage horse. He has been trained under saddle and ridden. He will buck on occasion and needs an experienced rider to ride the buck out of him. I am too old to do it! Otherwise, he is very willing, and has a calm and sweet disposition. One of the photos in this ad shows my grandson sitting on Montrose's back. Montrose wasn't halterd or bridled when the photo was taken. He stands quietly in the pasture while I hold my little grandson on his back. Am planning to have him trained to drive in the very near future. Price will increase after trained to drive.
Montrose easily accepts packs weighing 50 lbs. on both sides. He would make a very willing pack horse on the trail. He stands quietly for hours tied to a picket line or high line, even when packed.
He is up to date on shots, negative Coggins, loads easily, stands for the farrier, is on a deworning schedule and is easy to dose with dewormer.
Montrose is a bay and has a connected Star, Strip and Snip on his face. Also has a Sock on left forelimb, a Coronet on left hindlimb, a and Sock on right fetlock on right hindlimb.
