Appy ready to go in any direction
Derik is a show stopper kind of guy!
Derik is a sweet 20 year old Appaloosa gelding. He is a stunning red roan Appaloosa gelding with a great personality. He is a stout built boy who stands about 15 hands. He has a nice short back and could carry even a heavy rider all day with little effort. He has been ridden double by teenage kids for miles and done great. Never even broke a sweat. He is a great guy with a great personality. He loves attention and is very in your pocket when your working with him. He is smart and a quick learner just as his breed would suggest. He is a clown and will figure things out faster then any horse we have ever had. He is good with other horses and is not herd bound at all. He is as content hanging out with people as he is with other horses.
Derik would do great in a home with a intermediate rider. He has had 90 days professional training on him and then many good rides since then. But he is willing to go in any direction that you take him as you tune him up. This is a great time to start so he is ready for spring while everyone else is just getting their horses out yours will be ready to go when the nice weather hits. He is a great boy and has been out on the trail, roads, and in group settings. He has even been out with a bunch of horses with carts and done great! He is very willing to please. He is great on halter, leads well and respects space. He is good in the round pen and doesnt crowd you but is attentive and watches you. We have worked with him on natural horsemanship training and he responded very well. We have rolled balls, barrels, tarps, ropes, ect at him and he did really well. We have done everything we can to make sure that he understands that its the thinking part of his brain we want to work with. He is respectful under saddle and will do what he is asked. But is not a dead head and would love a rider who can take him out and work him.
He clips, ties, bathes, and trailers with no problem. He is great to groom and will give his feet to the Ferrier. He does great with people of all ages, and has been around cows, sheep, goats, and dogs. Never flinched or showed any issues. We have ridden him over hills, logs, around barrels and through tarps, you name it. He stands nicely for the saddle and will let you bounce around when getting on. He doesnt take off as soon as you are in the saddle and will wait for cue. We have been riding him in a snaffle bit. He is plow reined and we are working on learning leg cues and neck reining. He just needs someone to finish him out and take him in any direction.
He was being used a pasture pet and pleasure horse before we got him. They had many horses and just didnt have the time for him. They had were more into poinies and carting then riding. He was taken out and ridden by friends and family but not worked often like he needed. Since we have had him we have put many many many rides on him. He is getting better every day and will clearly be an excellent horse for someone who wants to do a little bit of training and end up with a gem. He is stunning and a show stopper. He is a great boy and just needs a family that will spend time with him. We have exposed him to everything we can and he is doing great!
If your interested in meeting this boy give me a call. We are just looking for a great home for this guy. Make us an offer.
