Poet is a 14 y/o Reg. Thoroughbred gelding. He is about 16.2 hands tall. He is probably the most wonderful horse I will ever own. Poet loves to jump. He absolutely loves cross country, and excels at dressage. He is trained to 2nd level, and can do some 3rd level moves. He may be able to do more, but I don't know enough to try. Poet loves trail rides, and is very good on them, alone or with another horse. On Sunday, Oct. 5, we went on a 12 mile trail ride, and he was amazing. The ONLY reason I am selling Poet, and I mean only, is that his hooves can't handle the stress of the jumping that I am moving into. He can do up to about 2'6" without much issue, but when I start doing that consistently and going higher he can't handle it. He does love to jump and with special shoeing he might be able to handle the stress of going higher. We can not afford that shoeing. Poet has been shown flat, dressage, and jumping, and always did very well. Not spooky at shows and handles himself like a pro. For trail riding and flat riding a competent beginner could probably handle him. For jumping he needs an at least intermediate rider. Poet is not afraid of cars, trucks, trains, ect. He has been on a farm for the past few years and sees and hears all sorts of stuff, he has even been ridden in parades, directly behind an ambulance, with fire engines around him. I wouldn't hesitate much in calling him bomb-proof. He would do best in a home where he is either doing dressage work or any flat work with only a little bit of jumping, to keep him sound, or jumping on the lower levels. We are willing to winter Poet at our farm, even if you buy him now, if winter care is what you are worried about. He would receive care as if he were still mine, but you would be able to do whatever you wanted with him. It would be as though you were receiving free boarding. We know that hay prices make it hard to buy a horse now, but you would be worry free for the winter. $8,500 to a good home, referances required.
