Izzy is a 5 YO and balanced Irish Sport Horse. She is a dark bay, with a small star and currently stands 15.2. Being incredibly friendly, she enjoys having lots of human interaction and affection. Izzy is not currently registered, but is eligible to be.
Izzy has been brought along slowly using Classical Horsemanship principles. She works just as easily in a stock/Western saddle as she does in an English saddle. Her training has focused on 60 days of extensive ground work where in a round pen she was taught to lunge properly , and was desensitized to flags and ropes. Izzy then learned to ground drive, and has many miles under her belt of driving around the farm roads. She is now the shining star in ponying around the farm and really enjoys getting out of the ring and going on trail rides, with dogs, and in large groups. This past weekend she went on her first trail ride off the farm in Camden's Hunt Country- she was wonderful! She walk, trotted and cantered on the buckle. She is now hunting with the Camden Hunt. She will be going on her first overnight camping trip in December. Currently, Izzy is moving on to the ring at a walk, tort and canter, and my instructor is riding her in the ring while teaching lessons. She is spending more time learning to tie properly, and will start jumping in the next month. She is also learning to auto-load into and out of a ramp trailer. She stands very well for the farrier, loves to have her muzzle clipped, appreciates a good bath, and doesn’t mind blankets flung over her back. She has worn a fly sheet during most of the summer to preserve her beautiful coat.
Izzy needs a home with an experienced rider, or someone who is willing to work with a trainer, because she is a work in progress. She would do very well in a home that has time to continue to bring her along over the next 12 months. Although she isn’t ready for the show ring today, with patience and work she will be a lovely mount!
Izzy is up to date on all vaccines, has a current coggins, had her teeth floated May 2011, and had a normal veterinary/ chiropractic evaluation at that time as well.
