Ranger is a 5-gaited, Icelandic gelding and stands about 13.3 hands tall. He can tolt at a moderate speed, and has a smooth, collected canter. Sometimes, when traveling downhill, he can tend to get pacey, and but proper collection brings him back into his tolt. Ranger is trail-wise and will go at anything you put him. He sometimes is slightly reluctant to cross running water, but will do it with encouragement. You can pony horses off of him, and he has always been a gentleman, never giving any indication of kicking or biting other horses while riding with them. Ranger is also street-wise, and can be ridden by traffic. I pasture Ranger with our herd of Icelandic mares, and he gets along with them just fine. Ranger is not top-dog in the pasture, or bottom dog, just somewhere in the middle. The only vice I'm aware that he has, is riding with a frisky dog in the woods. If you have a dog that runs about, bursting in and out of the bushes, he will jump. If a dog trails quietly, he is fine with this. Ranger has a fair amount of go, and is great fun for the more advanced rider. I'm NOT recommending him for a child's horse or a novice. This horse has a lot of good years in him for someone to enjoy. He is sound, strong, and healthy to the best of my knowledge.
