18 yr old mare
She is a wonderful trail horse and adores her caregivers. I do not consider her a beginner horse. She is very obedient and never bucks, bites, kicks, etc. But, she will test a rider and take advantage of someone she doesn't respect. Oral medication for heaves, prescribed by the vet (approx. $30 monthly), keeps her comfortable during May through September when it is the worst. She is fine during the winter and loves long trail rides. She will try anything! My 14 yr old daughter has taken dressage lessons (she tries to cooperate but really doesn't understand why she has to walk so slow and tosses her head) and has practiced over jumps (which she loves). I have put her in harness with blinders and taught her to ground drive but have not had a chance to put her to the cart. We really do love her, but cannot afford board any longer.
Other than heaves, she is in excellent health and up to date on all shots. She is trimmed by the farrier every six weeks.
