This lovely jumping saddle is quite a find. Designed by one of the finest saddle makers in the world, Peter Menet, it is a British made Dominus, with calfskin seat and calfskin air-flo knee rolls. The British Dominus line was Peter Menets's original saddle line, before he developed Amerigo. The saddle is in very nice condition, with only the usual wear of a well-cared for saddle. A mixture of top class quality materials and craftsmanship, combined with correct anatomical design is the hallmark of Peter Menet's work. Please see his website at
This saddle has a calfskin seat and calfskin balloon kneerolls (calfskin blocks too) with buttery soft grained leather panels. The saddle has a nice wide, padded comfortable seat, narrow twist. Solid knee and calf blocks and soft air-flo kneerolls help keep your leg in the proper position over those big oxers or drops into the water. It has a slightly longer flap (14" from the bottom of the stirrup bar) and wide, soft wool-covered memory foam panels to distribute the rider's weight properly on the horse and help keep your horse comfortable during your ride.
The quality of the construction on this saddle certainly compares to Beval Butet, Devoucoux, CWD and Antares and is probably better and definitely more durable! They are rare very popular because of their comfort, security, and superb balance. Let me know if there is a view you would like to see that I haven't provided. There is a little darkening on the seat seams (calfskin does this) but no real wear or splitting. There are a few sweat marks here and there (one on the right rear calf block) and some leather discoloration from the rider's leg but I would consider these absolutely normal use marks, nothing extraordinary. The saddle was not used regularly...there is literally no thinning of the leather anywhere. Don't pass this saddle up. I love this saddle because it is so comfortable but unfortunatley I need a 17" seat. I may be up for a trade.
