15.2 Western Pleasure 5y/o gelding
"Jasper" is a great, laid back 5 y/o Western Pleasure bred gelding. He's about 15.2/15.3 hands. He was bred by a vet and started by a professional trainer, Tim Brock at BC Stables and Training Center. While I don't consider any horse to be "bomb" proof (they have brains of their own after all) if you're looking for a laid back, easy going horse Jasper is definitely one to consider. It only took Tim about 15 minutes when he started Jasper to take him out on the trail and when they were out his reins came untied so Tim finished the ride by flipping the lead rope back and forth over Jasper's head to turn him. That's always been Jasper's temperament, very laid back and easy going. He's been through confidence clinics at BC Stables, and goes out on the trail with a group or alone. He'll cross streams, logs, go through the river, over bridges, doesn't jump ditches or mud puddles, etc. With a couple months of consistent riding I'm sure he'd make a good kids/beginner horse. Right now he only gets pulled out of the pasture about once every couple of months for a trail ride. Jasper might have English potential as he rounds up beautifully and has a great trot when you get him collected. He does WTC. We've done very little arena work, but what we have done he has picked up fairly quickly. I'm only offering him because I've gotten into endurance racing and gated horses, neither of which Jasper has the temperament (or speed) for.
Most of the pictures are from early 2013 when Jasper was coming 4, the last 2 photos of him in the pasture are from 4/24 so that's what he looks like now. I also have a video available which was shot October 2013, it shows him in the arena doing WTC work.
Except for needing front shoes Jasper's an easy keeper, didn't need anything all winter except hay. His front feet get tender if he doesn't have shoes for too long, but he stands well for the farrier.
Jasper is kept at BC Stables and Training Center where there is an indoor arena, outdoor arena, several miles of trails, and a challenge course. If you'd like to come try him out just give me a call, text, or e-mail. He's ready to go to his new home just in time for riding season to really kick off. I work overnights so please be patient. UTD on coggins and 5-way shot in Dec 2013. Let me know if you're interested or have any questions.
